Mark Hughes praises Krkic for first Premier League

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes came in with praise for striker Bojan Krkic, who scored his first Premier League goal since joining the club in the summer.

The former Barcelona forward created a tremendous talking point in the summer after deciding to join Stoke, who have been widely known as a physical team, by looking at various options across the continent. Even thoughKrkic has failed to hit the heights many expected of him a few years ago, he continues to remain a highly talented player. As expected, the Spanish international has struggled to cope with the physicality of the Premier League.

He has featured in seven matches so far, but his best performance came in the weekend’s victory over Tottenham. The former Barcelona man scored one of the goals in the 2-1 win, but it was not any other goal after he managed to run through an entire Tottenham defence and finish with a lot of composure. This would have been the kind of goal Hughes would have been expecting from the 24-year-old, who still has a long time left in his game. It was not surprising when Hughes came in with praise for the youngster after the win that lifts the club into the top half of the table.

“Bojan was doing what he did in pre-season. At the start of the season it was a bit of a shock to him in the Premier League. We just had to bide our time a bit but he is ready now and the quality of his goal shows the technical ability he has.

I was really pleased with what we produced today. From start to finish we were the more accomplished side. We were always a threat on the break and had great ability in forward areas,” said Hughes.
