RAMIREZ JOINS TEAMMATES IN SPAIN

Star player Gaston Ramirez has joined up with his teammates in Spain as he is set to continue with the club this term.

The player was heavily linked with a move to struggling Leicester City but Boro disallowed the deal.

The player is now keen to rebuild his reputation at the club after he handed in a transfer request to exit the Riverside Stadium. The former Southampton player has not featured in the last six games for Boro due to a knee injury he picked up. The 26-year old playmaker would join teammates in Spain for a four-day training break so he can return refreshed for the race to finish the campaign well.

“He is and he will be an important player in this team and he knows that. He know the effort that the club made to sign him last season and therefore that the club made this summer to sign him permanently,” Boro manager Aitor Karanka said.

Ramirez has not played since he featured against the Foxes on the second day of the year. Since his absence, Middlesbrough have picked up just two points from a possible 12. The poor form has left them one point able relegation as the season enters a critical period.

Following a successful loan spell, Boro signed him permanently from Southampton. Karanka says he is delighted with the player’s contribution and insists that they would not let him leave.

Boro face a tough test against a confident Everton side this weekend. They would be hoping to use their home advantage to the fullest against the Toffees as they seek their first victory since December 17 in the league. Everton on the other hand are seeking to break through the top six spot, so it promises to be a cracker.
